La Liga side Malaga sack manager Michel after Getafe defeat
Malaga are 19th in the table after Friday night's loss
They've been in relegation for the majority of the season
Malaga have confirmed the dismissal of manager Michel after Friday night's defeat to Getafe (1-0) in La Liga.
Michel has been under pressure since the beginning of the season with Malaga spending 17 of the 19 rounds of fixtures in the relegation zone.
The loss to Getafe left them 19th, with just 11 points to their name at the half way stage of the campaign.
Malaga owner Abdullah Al Thani has stuck by Michel through the run of bad results but has finally decided enough is enough.
"Michel joined the club last season in a difficult situation and was able to turn things around," the club said in a statement.
"Unfortunately, this season the team has not been able to achieve a run of results and has remained in the relegation zone.
"Therefore, the club feels it's necessary to look for a change in search of a reaction."
