Caparros took charge of Sevilla's final games this season

Joaquin Caparros will be Sevilla's new director of football, a position he takes up after coaching the club in their final four games of the La Liga season.

Sevilla announced the news on Friday and Caparros will be presented in a press conference at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday.

Caparros, 62, will be, the club explained, "in charge of all of Sevilla's teams, from the first team until the very youngest sides in the academy" and that the club's new structure will be "drawn up in the coming hours."

They added: "Joaquin Caparros is an institution at Sevilla FC, keeping in mind that he's the coach that has overseen the most games, 230 over his two spells in charge.

"In his first spell, he took the team from the second division to Europe. In his second spell, this season, he took the team in the Europa League by winning 10 of a possible 12 points in his four games in charge."
