Ipurua becomes the first stadium in La Liga to use VAR
The friendly between Eibar and Real Sociedad this Friday was the first time VAR has been used in a La Liga stadium
SD Eibar's stadium, Municipal de Ipurua, is the first La Liga stadium to use Video Assistant Referee (VAR)
Eibar's opponents, Real Sociedad, have said that VAR will be used in at least two more of their preseason matches. The second of which will be against Athletic Club on the 4th August and the third will be against Alaves on the 8th August.
It's also possible that it'll be used for their match against Real Zaragoza on the 1st August. Other teams who are using the new technology this season are Real Betis, Sevilla and Villarreal.
And VAR is here to stay. It made it's debut in a World Cup tournament at Russia and it'll be implented from the start of La Liga this season. Let's see if it improves the competition or not.
