The French forward looked back at last season's European shortcomings

In an interview with Telefoot, Antoine Griezmann has spoken about Atletico's failings in the Champions League last season, when they failed to get out of the group stage.

"We didn't even reach the last 16. I think a large part of that was my fauly, I was not at my best. We will try to improve," the France forward said.

Another issue which came up, as always, was the documentary The Decision, when he announced he would turn down Barcelona's offer to stay at Atletico Madrid.

"Yes, it was the most difficult decision of my career. There were moments when I wasn't good. I spoke with my partner, but she wasn't 100 percent either, neither were my parents. I was waking up at three in the morning asking myself (what to do), it was complicated," he said.

Griezmann overcame the Champions League exit with success in the Europa League and the World Cup: "It's true that things went better. I reached two finals in a short space of time."
