Barcelona (dpa) - Real Madrid earned a tight 3-1 win at Eibar on Sunday in La Liga.

Karim Benzema and Luka Modric’s early goals put Madrid ahead but Kike Garcia pulled a fine goal back, and it took a late Lucas Vazquez strike to kill the game.

“We played a brilliant 20 minutes and scored two, then they equalised and the game changed,” said Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

“We were concentrating and very focused on the game, it’s a hard place to play and an opponent who doesn’t surrender from the first minute to the end.

“They had their moments but in general, during the game we controlled it, it was our game.”

Perhaps the key moment came when Madrid were 2-1 up and Ramos handled the ball in the area, with nothing being given.

Benzema was key for Madrid, not only scoring the opening goal but setting up the other two for his side.

Madrid have won five in a row across all competitions and look like they will be capable of putting up a title defence after their weak start.
