'Toto' Berizzo has failed to reach an agreement to extend his contract

He will coach his last game at Balaidos vs. Real Sociedad on Sunday

Eduardo 'Toto' Berizzo has announced that he will not continue as Celta Vigo manger next season after failing to reach an agreement with president Carlos Mouriñoto extend his contract, which ends on June 30.

Berizzo informed his players in training on Saturday morning at the training ground at A Madroa and then revealed the decision in his pre-game press conference ahead of Sunday's final La Liga game against Real Sociedad at Balaidos.

The Argentine coach arrived three summers ago from Chilean side O'Higgins, taking over from Luis Enrique. After overcoming a results crisis (10 games without a win in 2014-15), Berizzo's side improved and this season reached the Europa League semifinal.

During his time in charge, Celta have also reached two Copa del Rey semifinals (2016 and 2017), although they have never made a final. Berizzo is now in the running to replace Jorge Sampaoli at Sevilla.
