Duda retirement dream almost a reality with one-year Malaga extension

Sergio Paulo Barbosa, otherwise known as Duda, has taken the option to extend his Malaga contract by a further year, and has said this Monday that "he had thought about it [retiring at the club] for many years, and today I have made a dream reality."

"I am very happy to continue in this dressing room, club and team, to continue trying to improve and we have demonstrated we can already."

Duda turns 35 later this month, on the 27th of June, and has said that when Javi Gracia "asked if I had the legs to continue in the squad" he told him that he could still count on him.

"From the very first day I said that I wanted to stay," explained Duda, who also said that both directors Mario Husillos and Vicente Casado "have given him all of their confidence," in order "to fight for the shirt."

"I thought that I felt capable of fighting for another year, we will see about the second."
