Atletico boss Simeone would love his compatriot to join him in Madrid
Javier Pastore has grown fed up of his situation at Paris Saint-Germain and according to L'Equipe has asked the club to let him leave in the winter.
The Argentine international does not like being on the bench and wants to play more minutes so that his chances of going to the World Cup are not damaged.
He has warned Unai Emery that he's not happy and that if he remains a substitute he wants to leave the club.
That's where Atletico Madrid come in. Or, rather, Diego Simeone, who on more than one occasion has made it clear he wants his compatriot at the club.
Pastore and Atletico, according to L'Equipe, have been in contact about a possible January transfer.
What's more, the French newspaper reports that Simeone and Pastore are in "regular contact".
PSG have never made Pastore available but are in need to sell to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.
In any case, Atletico are following the situation, as are Inter and Roma, two other clubs with hopes of seducing the Argentina.
