Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone admitted a leaked audio clip during the World Cup was him speaking, in which he implied he would take Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Atletico's game against PSG in Singapore, Simeone said: "The explanation is that it was a message I sent to German Burgos. We were talking about foootball, as you would talk to anyone, and when I expressed about Messi and Ronaldo I was not talking about who was the best in the world. If I had to choose Messi or Ronaldo I would absolutely choose Messi, I have no doubt.
"I was saying that in a team of average players, Ronaldo would probably be the better fit. But when he's surrounded by top players, Messi is the best in the world."
