Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa returned to training on Wednesday as he edges closer to a first-team come back following over two months on the sidelines.
The Hispanic-Brazilian forward hopes to be fit and available for Atletico's looming Champions League tie against European champions Liverpool.
Costa had an operation on his hernia 76 days ago and has been out of action ever since, missing 14 games in all competitions: nine in La Liga, two in the Champions League, two in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the Copa del Rey.
Atletico face Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano on Feb. 18 and then have the second leg at Anfield on March 11. Their next game in the league is against Granada on Saturday.
