Dani Parejo: I go out into the street and they call me a dog

Dani Parejo says he is suffering because Valencia fans have been mistreating him as the club struggle

Dani Parejo was the big protagonist in Valencia’s win over Alaves, scoring the decisive penalty that gave his team a late victory. He said: “It was a difficult day to shoot the penalty, but I like to take risks. If I’d missed that penalty I wouldn’t have left the Mestalla.”

The Valencia midfielder spoke to Cadena Cope and explained how he had been mistreated by the fans recently, saying recent times had been “very bad” but he would “show up for Valencia until the last day”.

“Destiny says that I am at Valencia and I am a top professional every day I am here and I train like the best of them. Sometimes I go out into the street and [people] call me a dog. “You are a dog” they say to me. And I’ve got to the point where I don’t car what they call me because whoever does that is no fan of Valencia.

“I show up for Valencia and I’ve started to cry at home because they all want to kill me.”
