The Celta Vigo captain had plenty to say after a 2-1 defeat vs. Real Madrid on Saturday

Celta Vigo captain Iago Aspas complained that Real Madrid's third penalty should not have been given in a controversial game on Saturday that saw his side beaten 2-1.

Madrid were awarded three penalties, with Karim Benzema scoring two and seeing one saved, as they moved 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Aspas bemoaned the soft nature of the first two penalties, but was critical of the decision to give the third one, which decided the game after Benzema had earlier missed from the spot.

"I think the first two were soft but the last one wasn't a penalty, from my point of view," Aspas said.

"All that was missing was to give one last [penalty] for [referee] Pablo [Gonzalez Fuertes] to take it. Otherwise, it would have been a Benzema hat trick, it seemed like that was what he wanted."

Aspas also bemoaned the decision to rule a Celta equaliser out in the first half at 1-0 for his offside: "When Thiago shot, I noticed that I was offside, but I follow the play in case it hits the post and I push it, in case in the end I'm not offside, but I don't have eyes behind my back to see the defender behind me."

"I said after that if Alaba touches the ball and gives me the ball before scoring the goal, it would be a goal. Like Eric García's in the Nations League, if he touches it again, he changes the play. They are discussions that are useless. We have deserved more than we got in 90 minutes."
