Cavani admits he is flattered by Atletico Madrid interest
Edinson Cavani says he’s flattered by the interest Atletico Madrid have shown in him, but pointed out he still has a contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking on Tuesday from Uruguay’s pre-Copa America camp, he said that he’d spoken with his international team-mate Diego Godin about Atletico.
“They’re a competitive team that have demonstrated an interest in me and that gives me a lot of joy, because it’s nice when teams show an interest,” Cavani said in a press conference.
“It’s been demonstrated by [Atletico’s] president, manager and by Diego [Godin]. Looking further ahead, you never know…
“But today my reality is that I am a PSG player and I have to respect that club until the final time I put on the shirt.”
With regards to his conversation with Godin about a possible move to the Madrid side, Cavani indicated that the Uruguay captain kept in contact with all his international team-mates and that it was inevitable these things would come up.
