Barcelona claim draw vs Alavés: 1-1 at Estadio de Mendizorroza

Alavés was held down on Saturday at Estadio de Mendizorroza by Barcelona as the game ended 1-1. Alavés arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after winning away by a 0-2 victory against Real Valladolid while Barcelona fell defeated by 1-3 in the last match they played against Real Madrid. As of today, Alavés and Barcelona are tied on 8 points occupying position 13 and 12 respectively after 8 matches.

The game started favourably for Alavés, thanks to a goal from Luis Rioja 31 minutes in the game, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-0.

Barcelona took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Antoine Griezmann in the 63rd minute, finalising the game with a 1-1.

For Alavés, Martin Aguirregabiria, Joselu, Tomas Tavares, Manu Garcia and Adrian Marin came on for Clement Lenglet, Sergio Busquets, Ousmane Dembele, Jordi Alba and Ansu Fati, while Barça brought on Pedri, Miralem Pjanic, Trincao, Sergino Dest and Martin Braithwaite to replace Clement Lenglet, Sergio Busquets, Ousmane Dembele, Jordi Alba and Ansu Fati.

The referee booked seven players. Jota, Deyverson and Ruben Duarte from Alavés saw the yellow card and Jota (2 yellow cards) saw the red card, while for Barcelona Lionel Messi, Clement Lenglet and Sergio Busquets saw a yellow card as well.

Alavés will play against Levante at away stadium, while Barcelona will face Real Betis at home stadium.
