Barcelona 2-1 Getafe: Griezmann & Roberto on target in hard-fought win

Barcelona beat Getafe 2-1 on Saturday at Camp Nou to move level with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. 

Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Sergi Roberto doubled Barca's lead five minutes before half-time. 

Barca target Angel Rodriguez pulled one back with 25 minutes to go but Quique Setien's side held on for a valuable three points. 

Lionel Messi missed the first chance of the game, failing to lob David Soria after a good pass from the rejuvenated Sergio Busquets. 

The home side were then dealt a blow when Jordi Alba was forced off injured, replaced by Junior Firpo in the 20th minute. 

Getafe thought they had the lead moments later when Allan Nyom scored from close range. VAR revealed that he had fouled Samuel Umtiti before firing home, though. 

Marc Cucurella, on loan at the Madrid side from Barca, then slashed one wide before the Catalans took control of the game. 

Griezmann opened the scoring with a really well-taken finish after an equally good pass from Messi in the build-up. 

Messi and Griezmann were again involved as Barca made it two six minutes later, linking with Arthur Melo before Junior crossed for Roberto to convert. 

Angel, who could yet join Barca this month as a replacement for the injured Ousmane Dembele, brought Getafe back into the game in the 66th minute with a really good volley. 

He could have had a second, too, only for Marc-Andre ter Stegen to claw the ball away with him waiting to pounce after making two good saves. 

With Getafe pushing for a draw, Griezmann missed two really good chances to seal it at the other end, slashing over after more good work from Junior and dragging wide after more good work from Messi. 

Barca move level on points with Madrid, who face Celta Vigo on Sunday with the chance to move clear once again.
