Barça's trip to Sevilla ON after postponement request rejected by RFEF
LaLiga wanted the game suspended due to a clash with World Cup qualifiers in South America
The president of the Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) Competition Committee has rejected LaLiga's request to postpone Sevilla-Barcelona this month. Villarreal's game against Alaves has also been ordered to go ahead.
LaLiga had requested they both be postponed due to a clash with South American World Cup qualifiered but the RFEF have ruled that is not just cause to move the games, scheduled for Sept. 11.
In a statement released later on Thursday, LaLiga said they would fight the ruling in a bid to get it overturned and the matches suspended.
In contrast to previous years, Barça only have one player involved in the South American international fixtures this month, defender Ronald Araujo.
