Neto made superb saves from a Saul Niguez long-ranger and Diego Costa's header from a corner, but was eventually beaten when Correa rifled home from outside the area.
Atletico were forced into two changes in defence, with Stefan Savic hurting a hamstring while Diego Godin suffered an elbow to the jaw from Neto, knocking some of his teeth out.
Despite being in the wars, the hosts held on to win and close the gap on Barcelona after their 1-1 draw at Espanyol.
