Home crowd rewarded with a win, as Marcelino’s team triumph over Granada

Athletic Bilbao enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Granada at the Estadio San Mames on Sunday. Athletic Club arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Levante. Granada were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Elche. As the table looks today, both teams are on 33 points and occupy 8th and 10th places respectively after 26 matches.

Athletic Club started well with, beginning with early goal from Asier Villalibre in the 3rd minute, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-0.

Granada took the initiative in the second half, following a goal from Jorge Molina in the 78th minute. However, Athletic Club just before the final whistle found the back of the net via a Alex Berenguer goal, which sealed the victory for Athletic Club.

For Athletic Bilbao, Yeray Alvarez, Raul Garcia, Oscar De Marcos, Inaki Williams and Alex Berenguer came on for Quini, Fede Vico, Domingos Quina, Antonio Puertas and Angel Montoro, while Granada replaced Victor Diaz, Robert Kenedy, Roberto Soldado, Adrian Marin and Yan Eteki with Quini, Fede Vico, Domingos Quina, Antonio Puertas and Angel Montoro.

There were bookings for Dani Garcia and Unai Vencedor from Athletic Bilbao and Yangel Herrera for Granada.

Athletic Club will next travel to Celta Vigo, while Granada will face Real Sociedad at home.
