Angulo appointed to Gary Neville's coaching team

Gary Neville has revealed that Phil Neville and Miguel Angel Angulo will make up part of his coaching team at Valencia.

The 40-year-old was appointed as the new boss at Mestalla on Wednesday and was presented to the gathered media on Thursday afternoon.

He explained that his brother, Phil, who worked with previous manager Nuno Espirito Santo, will be sticking around, adding that Angulo will be promoted from the U19 team.

“Phil and Angulo - who is a Valencia legend - will be on my coaching team,” Neville said.

“I am delighted [Angulo’s] accepted, I spoke to many people and the respect he has here is huge.

“He is going to become an important part of the coaching team.”

Neville also said it will be and advantage, as opposed to a problem, to work alongside his brother, who already has the inside scoop on the club having joined last summer.

“If Phil wasn’t here, I would want him here,” he continued.

“He is diligent, hard-working and I am delighted that he’s here.

“Professionally, we don’t do niceties, we talk about actions and the last few days our talks have been about information, advice, when we will train, detailed information about the players.

“The professional way we’ve worked together has never been a problem as players, nor will it be now.

“Phil speaks very highly of the squad in terms of their application and dedication.

“Confidence has been an issue, but that happens at all football clubs.

“He spoke well about them, which gives me enthusiasm as well as he’s working with them every day.

“Phillip and Angulo will form the coaching team and I’m always ready to listen to their advice. I’m not a dictator!”
