El presidente de LaLiga lamenta el fallecimiento del agente de la Ertzaintza antes del Athletic-Spartak

"Había que haberlo evitado, porque su historial no presagiaba nada bueno", apunta

La Liga president Javier Tebas has lamented the death of a police officer following fighting between Spartak Moscow and Athletic Club fans on Thursday.

The clashes took place in the streets of Bilbao in the build up to the Europa League game between the two sides.

"This is crazy, it's very serious," Tebas said. "We have to be strong against the ultra violence, we have to do everything possible to eradicate it once and for all."

In quotes ran on Diario AS, he continued: "[The Russian ultras] shouldn't have travelled to Bilbao. It should have been avoided because their record does not bode well. And the worst thing has happened, because a life has been lost."

Tebas added that: "The recent serious episodes of ultra violence have taken place in European competitions, because in Spain we are controlling it well. But the games in other countries are when these barbarians are more violent."

"I have repeatedly warned both UEFA and FIFA about ultra violence, and I think that what happens around football, even if it is not inside the stadiums, must also be monitored by the organiser of the tournaments and the games. We cannot look the other way."
