Alvaro Morata spoke to the press at the first charity golf tournament organised by his foundation, in which other teammates, such as Koke, Saúl, Marcos Llorente, Azpilicueta, Witsel and Hermoso took part.

The striker wanted to soften the controversy about the support that women's football receives from the men's national team after Carvajal's statements after the Norway-Spain match: "If Aitana says so, it's because she feels that way. The men's national team helps the women's team a lot, it's not just the things that come out, they've been doing it for a long time. I'm the captain and the one in charge of seeing over all those things, they've been helping each other for many years and if they have anything to tell us or where we can help, they know we're available".

Morata also wanted to make clear his role in the Spanish national team after his good professional moment: "It's Gavi's, Pedri's, Lamine's... and above all it has to be that of all Spaniards, when people are with us we notice it a lot and we are going to need them. We come from a transition that has not been easy after the best players in the history of the country, but there are reasons to have confidence in the future. There are players like Gavi, Pedri and Ansu who have the whole future ahead of them and are the present of the national team".

He also spoke about Simeone's renewal and what it means for the club: "It's not a decision I have to make, but I'm happy because there is no one who represents Atletico Madrid better, he is the perfect coach for Atletico".
