Kevin Gameiro will sign for Valencia in a €13m deal and the Croatian striker, Nikola Kalinic, will replace him in the squad

Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, Ángel Correa and Nikola Kalinic? Diego Pablo Simeone has already identified the man he wants to help lead the line at Atletico Madrid next season. Simeone hopes to tie up a deal for Milan's Croatian striker, Nikola Kalinic, who will replace the Valencia-bound Kevin Gameiro.

Atletico will receive around €13m for Gameiro, although the fee which could rise to €20m if his achieves all the add-ons negotiated between the two clubs. It's a deal which suits both parties: Marcelino wanted the French striker to add extra quality to his team and Simeone needed space in his squad so he could sign Kalinic.

Valencia's signing of Gameiro could be made official at any moment. The clubs have agreed terms on every aspect of the transfer and all that's left is for the two sides to exchange the relevant documents. The French striker has been training away from his teammates and won't travel with the squad to Singapore as he was informed that a deal is imminent.

Kalinic will arrive

Atlético will now try and speed up their signing of Kalinic, the player chosen by Simeone, to complete his attacking options for next season. The Croatian, who is 30 years old, will arrive to compete with Diego Costa for the No.9 role. He's a different type of player to Costa and this will allow Simeone to create alternative combinations in attack.

Simeone's idea is to have four strikers to call upon next season. Luciano Vietto, who is travelling with the squad to Singapore, has been told he isn't needed at the club. This will leave Atletico with Costa, Kalinic, Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa.
