Setien is hot property after his side beat Barcelona last weekend

Real Betis have begun the process of tying coach Quique Setien down to a new deal after he was linked as a possible replacement for Ernesto Valverde at Barcelona next season -- if Valverde doesn't continue.

Setien, in his second season at Betis, has a contract until 2020 but Betis' intention is to tie him down for even longer.

Betis have let Setien know that they're happy with his work and would like to talk about new terms. The coach was receptive to negotiating.

The conversation happened before Betis' win at Barcelona, one of their finest results of the season. It was a sign of confidence and Setien appreciated it.

Conditions could be discussed the next time bases are touched. Among the things up for debate, for example, may be the grass at the Benito Villamarin and the training ground, something Setien has complained about.

"We want to have Quique for many years," said the club's CEO, Lopez Catalan, recently. "He's an extraordinary coach."
