Official: Iker Casillas running to become president of Spanish FA
The Porto goalkeeper has announced he will stand in the next elections
Iker Casillas has confirmed that he will run to become the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation at this year's elections.
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas will run against the current incumbent, Luis Rubiales.
"Yes, I will stand to become president of the RFEF when elections are called," Casillas confirmed on social media on Monday.
"I have informed the president of my club, FC Porto, of my decision and can only express deep gratitude towards him.
"Thanks to everyone for the affection I have received. Your support encourages me to drive forward."
