it would cost the Spain international around 18 million euros to do the deal

According to reports in Superdeporte, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could become the new owner of Spanish side Elche.

Elche's maximum shareholder, Jose Sepulcre, was negotiating the sale of the club with Christian Bragarnik, although talks have called in recent weeks.

If De Gea steps in to take over the club, he would follow other players in investing the game, such as Gerard Pique, who purchased Andorra recently.

De Gea is a season ticket holder at Elche, which is where his father was born and where he spent part of his childhood. It would cost him around 18 million euros to take over the club.

The Spain international recently extended his contract with United until 2023.
