Lionel Messi leaves Argentina national team temporarily
Scaloni has not convinced him to stay on for the upcoming friendlies
"Messi will not play in Argentina games this year," said TNT Sports LA journalist Hernan Castillo on Twitter.
After a complicated World Cup and Jorge Sampaoli leaving, Scaloni has taken on the role of interim coach but he has not convinced Messi to play in upcoming Argentina matches in the rest of 2018.
Messi and Scaloni have been talking but the No 10 has decided to take a break from the national team to "clear the head and put himself together after the World Cup". There is no official news from the Argentine football association.
Messi woul dmiss the friendlies against Guatemala in LA on September 7 and against Colombia in New York on Sep 11. He would also miss the game against Brazil in October.
