The River Plate playmaker came on to save the day for his side

It wasn't Pavon, or Exequiel Palacios. In the end it was Colombian playmaker Juan Quintero who was the grand hero. Spanish football sides have been linked to the former two but it was the No 10 that decided things at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

An equal final, with more emotion than brilliant play, but Quintero came on from the bench to score and transform the game in extra-time.

"We are fair winners of the trophy and now we have to celebrate," said Quintero of his 109th minute goal.

"I didn’t think, I got the ball, looked for space, controlled it and shot. Yesterday I worked on that shot and I scored a goal I have to celebrate.

"We knew Boca were a very tactical team who are very physical, but we worked until the end, and we made the difference."
