Gerard Lopez: Xavi could keep playing until he is 45!

The former Barcelona player was one of the stand out performers in the Catalonia game

Catalonia coach Gerard Lopez says Xavi Hernandez could continue playing for another decade.

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi played for over an hour as the Catalan national team drew 3-3 with Tunisia on Wednesday, before eventually losing on penalties.

He set up his side’s first goal and was later named Man of the Match, leaving Gerard suitably impressed.

“It had been a couple of years since I’d seen him,” Lopez, who is also the Barça B boss, said after the match in Girona.

“He could play until he’s 45. With his talent, the way he plays and his capacity to manage his fitness

“He’s a different player. For me, he’s the best Catalan player in history.

“Along with Sergio Garcia, he’s the flag bearer for the national team. I’m happy to have them both and that their clubs allow them to play.”

Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets did not play in the match, but Jordi Masip and Sergi Roberto did take part.
