Since his arrest and detention on Tuesday morning after the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) offices were searched, the name Angel Maria Villar is a hot topic in Spain.
A lot of politicians have given their thoughts and Iñigo Errejón has been one of the most damning. “Villar made football a game of 11 against 11 where he always won. It’s not just a problem of [political] parties, we have to regenerate our country”, he said. “One government after another, for 29 years, allowing the management of the RFEF to do as they wanted”.
The senior Podemos politician is now waiting for justice to take its course in the case that is keeping all Spanish football on tenterhooks. The arrest of Villar has opened a lot of eyes with regard to a management that had been under suspicion for years but this new investigation has brought everything into the spotlight.
