The coach beat Zlatko Dalic and Zinedine Zidane to the award

The World Cup played a big part in the choice of The Best award for coach, with Didier Deschamps winning it after lifting the trophy in Russia with France. He beat out Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic, whose side were defeated in Moscow, and his compatriot Zinedine Zidane who won the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Deschamps, 49, is the third wnner of the award after Zidane and Claudio Ranieri.

"The first people I want to congratulate are my rivals, who could also have won the award today. The president of the French federation for putting his confidence in me, the group of players who allowed me to be here today, as coaches aren't anybody without players, and my technical team. To finish, I'd like to share this award for my family, with my spouse and my son," said Deschamps, after Arsene Wenger gave him the award.
