Carlos Alvarado believes Navas has done enough to warrant keeping his place in Madrid's team

The president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, has today defended his compatriot Keylor Navas and backed the goalkeeper to remain as Real Madrid's no.1.

Alvarado made his comments during a conference held alongside Spanish president, Pedro Sanchez, who is currently visiting Latin America.

He was asked about the possibility Navas might no longer be Real Madrid's starting goalkeeper, this despite the fact he was named as the 'Best Goalkeeper' in UEFA's gala. His place is in doubt following the arrival of Belgian stopper Thibaut Courtois.

Alvarado insists that Navas could be the first choice goalkeeper at any team in world football. Sanchez, for his part, didn't want to reply to the question. No surprise to see Keylor fail to win support from someone in a position of power at Madrid.
