The news of the summer in the gossip columns is the separation of Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and Colombian singer Shakira.
The couple confirmed recently that they had split following a slew of rumours in the press about the circumstances of their breakup.
For now, the consequences of the separation are not clear, but the first one has become known this week and it's related to Pique's attendance at teammate Jordi Alba's wedding.
Pique will not attend the ceremony and the reason is simple: he won't attend Alba's marriage to Romarey Ventura on Saturday June 17 because of his split from Shakira.
Culemania reports that he would rather keep himself out of the spotlight and does not want all the media focus to be on him.
He will also not attend the post-wedding party in El Viso del Alcor (Seville), an event that will be attended by some of Spain's most well-known football players.
Pique would like to have attended, but he does not want to tarnish Alba and Ventura's day.
