Official: Raul de Tomas signs for Espanyol from Benfica
The striker, formerly of Real Madrid, impressed at Rayo but flopped abroad
Raul de Tomas has joined Espanyol on a 6.5 year deal from Benfica. He signed for the Portuguese side from Real Madrid in the summer for 20 million euros but failed to score in the top flight for the Lisbon team.
RDT played 32 times for Rayo Vallecano the previous season in La Liga, scoring 14 as they were relegated.
Espanyol are currently bottom of the division and hope RDT’s arrival can reinvigorate them.
Espanyol will pay Benfica 20m euros plus 2.5m in variables, plus they will get part of his sale fee if he should leave.
