Mario Hermoso, hours from joining Atletico Madrid
The defender is poised to move to the Spanish capital
Mario Hermoso is close to sealing his move from Espanyol to Atletico. After Espanyol rejected a 20m euro offer from the Rojiblancos, they have bid 30m (5m of which is in variables) and the Pericos have decided to accept it.
Hermoso's release clause is 40m but Atletico did not want to go that far. Espanyol only have 50 per cent of Hermoso's rights, with the other 50 per cent held by Real Madrid. So they will only get 15m euros.
The defenfer played 45 minutes in a pre-season friendly against Peralada on Tuesday, probably his last game in the shirt.
