The centre-back wants to make the move back to Madrid

Rubi's move to Real Betis may not be Espanyol's only loss in the coming days. As well as their coach, they look set to lose star defender Mario Hermoso.

Hermoso has one year on his deal at the club but has reached ann agreement to move to Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal worth arround three million annually.

His release clause is 40 million euros but the fact he could leave for free next summer means Espanyol will be forced to negotiate. Atletico will offer 20 million. PSG will match Atletico's offer but the centre-back wants to move to Madrid.

Half of whatever Espanyol will receive will go to Real Madrid, who still own 50 percent of the player's economic rights.

Girona defender Bernardo Espinosa is the likely replacement for Hermoso. Girona were relegated and the Colombian is keen to remain in La Liga and has offered himself around.
