The gaffer spoke after the Pericos won 2-0 at Huesca to go second, behind only Barca

Espanyol coach Rubi said on Sunday, after his team’s 2-0 win at Huesca, that what they have to do now is “defend second place and attack first place”.

“Now everything is going perfectly and they can’t take away from us what we’ve done already,” said Rubi. “We haven’t gone overboard on euphoria.”

It took them five games to finally win away from home and “work, work, work” is what lies ahead if they want their good form to continue.

“Huesca were valiant with an attacking XI and in that sense they surprised us,” added Rubi.

“It was a very intense game but the first goal hurt them.”

On two-goal hero Borja Iglesias, Rubi said: “Now he’s got four goals in two weeks but he also brings us a lot of things because he’s a hard player for defences to mark.”
