Toni Freixa: It's possible to bring Haaland AND Mbappe to Barcelona

The presidential candidate spoke about how he will finance changes to the squad

Barcelona presidential hopeful Toni Freixa reckons it would be possible to sign Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Barça's net debt has risen to €488 million since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and players have had to take pay cuts but Freixa says he has a plan to bring in investment.

The former director at the Catalan club claims he has a deal on the table to sell 49 percent of Barça Corporate for €250m.

Barça Corporate consists of four sections of the club's business model away from the pitch: Barça Innovation Hub, Barça Licensing and Merchandising, Barça Studios and Barça Academies.

"We've been working on an agreement for a while and have now closed one that will bring in €250 million for 49 percent of Barca Corporate," Freixa told RAC1.

"And for the 2021-22 season (we will invest that money in) two difference-makers in attack and a great defender. The message is that Barça will have the competitive team that they have to have and that the supporters want. I'm talking in real terms, we will have the most competitive squad for next season.

Asked about Mbappe and Haaland, he added: "We won't speak about players until they're signed, because it's not a good strategy and other clubs could ruin negotiations.

"But it's absolutely possible. It's what Barça must do. Bring in players who can make the difference."
