Jordi Cruyff: I'm sure my dad would vote Laporta for Barça president

Laporta's campaign received a boost with the implied backing of Jordi Cruyff

Elections are around the corner at FC Barcelona with Joan Laporta, Victor Font and Toni Freixa all vying to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned in October, as the club's president.

Laporta, Barça president between 2003 and 2010, has received another boost to his campaign from Jordi Cruyff, who has told El Largeruo that he's "sure" his dad, Johan, would have voted for Laporta.

"I think the answer to that question is very clear," Cruyff Jr said. "I think he would vote for Laporta. He always got on well with my dad, they collaborated on many occasions and have also had a personal relationship for many years. I'm quite sure my dad would vote for Laporta. Always. Not just now, but before and in the future, too."

Cruyff continued: "Barcelonismo is hungry for the good times again, Laporta brought great times at the club with good, daring decisions and people want the good times on and off the pitch again. It's a little bit of longing for the past. His banner was a very clear movement.

"Barça and their supporters need to be proud, to feel feared. Ex-players and players all speak well of Laporta and that's not easy. Xavi himself said that he's been the best president he had."
