De Telegraaf: Barcelona make formal offer Ajax right-back Dest
According to the Dutch outlet, the bid was made on Wednesday
Barcelona have now made a formal offer to Ajax for the United States international Sergiño Dest. According to De Telegraaf the offer went in on Wednesday and is worth an initial 20 million euros with five million more in variables. Barça are convinced they will reach an agreement to sign Dest in the coming hours.
Barça's offer is superior to the one made by Bayern Munich, the other team keen on Dest. Barça have sold Nelson Semedo to Wolves and will use the money to try and sign Dest. In fact, it's a well-rounded operation for the Catalans. Semedo left for 30 million with 10 million more in possible add-ons. Dest, 19, will arrive for less and has his whole career ahead of him.
With the offer in, the ball is in Ajax's court. The Dutch side have a very good relationship with Barcelona.
Everything seems in Barça's favour to land Dest, even though Bayern are likely to respond with another offer of their own. But Dest is getting closer and closer to filling the vacancy left by Semedo.
