The Ajax midfielder spoke after knocking Juve out of Europe

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong said after knocking Juventus out of the Champions League that it was easier to beat the Italians than Real Madrid.

"I don't know if it was the best game of our lives, but it was impressive," the Dutch international said after Matthijs de Ligt's goal earned a 3-2 aggregate win in Turin.

"I think it was more difficult in Madrid, because they went into the second leg with an advantage [a 2-1 win in Amsterdam]."

Despite putting a lot of relevance on the win at the Bernabeu, De Jong highlighted Ajax's planning for the two games against Juve.

"Juve are a really strong team," he added. "We knew it would be difficult but we demonstrated what we are about, especially in the second half.

"The coach [Ten Haag] told us to do the same as always: press high, try to keep possession. It's what we always try."

De Jong's in his final season at Ajax. In the summer, he will join Barcelona in a deal worth an initial 75 million euros.
