The Inter coach was upset as is his sidw bowed out of the Champions League

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte said on Tuesday that Ansu Fati's goal in the 87th minute of the Champions League game against Barcelona "killed" his side, who dropped into the Europa League after losing 2-1.

Barça had already qualified for the last 16 and fielded a much-changed side at the San Siro but still won thanks to goals from Carles Perez and Ansu, who at 17 years and 40 days old became the youngest goalscorer in the competition's history.

"Watching that Ansu Fati goal is painful, as it killed us in every way," Contes said. "We were pushing, creating the chances to score and go 2-1 up. It’s disappointing above all for the players, as they are giving their all in a difficult period.

"I was also disappointed for the fans at San Siro, as they pushed us from start to finish and created a wonderful atmosphere. It should’ve ended differently. We need to get back on our feet and start walking again."

Inter had drawn level at 1-1 through Romelu Lukaku but missed chances to take the lead before Ansu condemned them to third place and Champions League elimination.
