Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic is injured again
Zidane only has Benzema available as a pure striker for the clash with Gladbach
Zinedine Zidane cannot call on Luka Jovic against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. The Serbian forward trained on Monday normally but on Tuesday Madrid reported that he has tendonitis in his right adductor. That leaves the coach with only Karim Benzema as a pure striker for the essential European clash, with Madrid's future on the line.
Jovic has endured a lot of problems, including recently having and recovering from Covid-19. Madrid did not specify his expected absence period. Madrid must beat Gladbach if they are to qualify for the next round, barring a couple of draw scenarios. Mariano Diaz is also injured.
Benzema will therefore be flanked by two of Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Marco Asensio.
