The Liverpool forward wants to play but protocol says he cannot

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will not be available for Liverpool's Champions League semifinal second leg against Barcelona on Tuesday.

Striker Roberto Firmino will also miss the game with an injury as Liverpool attempt to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg.

Salam's been ruled out after taking a knock to the head in Saturday's 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

"It's concussion so he wouldn't be allowed to play," Klopp said in his pregame press conference when asked if Salah would feature against Barça.

"We cannot do it. He feels OK, but that is not good enough from a medical point of view. That's all. He is desperate, everything, but we can't do it."

Klopp's comments confirm the report first reported by Cadena SER, explaining that Salah would miss the game due to protocol on head injuries in England.

If there's any chance of concussion, players must not play again for the next six days.

However, Klopp has confirmed that Salah will be available for Sunday's final league game against Wolves. If Manchester City slip up in either of their final two matches against Leicester City and Brighton, a win on Sunday would earn Liverpool the league title.
