Complaints in Valencia that UEFA have shown favouritism to Real Madrid

Kondogbia's ban is harsher than the one Carvajal got last season

The three game ban handed to Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia by UEFA has been labelled "scandalous" by the local media, who say Real Madrid have received prefential treatment from the governing body.

Kondogbia was banned for Valencia's win against Celtic on Thursday after picking up a yellow card in the first leg. But UEFA have decided that he deliberately picked up that caution and slapped him with an additional two-game suspension.

The press in Valencia feel Los Che's players have not been dealt with in the same way as Madrid. Kondogia's been given a two-game ban for forcing the booking. A punishment which is superior to the one handed to Dani Carvajal last season or the one Sergio Ramos has still not received.

In the newspaper 'Superdeporte,' they talk of favourtism for Madrid. Remember that Carvajal got off with a one game ban last season and Ramos has not yet been punished for his booking at Ajax. "Despite committing the same crime, they haven't paid the same penalty," is the complaint in Valencia.

Carvajal forced a booking against Apoel Nicosia, while Ramos did the same at Ajax last week.

Kondogbia's ban is, in effect, three games. Carvajal's was only two. It remains to be seen what will happen to Ramos, who initially admitted to getting booked on purpose before backtracking on his post game comments.
