Champions League quarterfinals complete as Madrid & Napoli progress

There are three Italian sides and two from England in the last eight

All the tickets for the quarter-finals of the Champions League have now been allocated. Benfica, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Napoli have secured their places and will be in the draw for the last eight.

Madrid and Napoli were the last teams to qualify after beating Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. Los Blancos won 1-0 on the night with a solitary goal from Karim Benzema and 6-2 on aggregate. The Italians won 3-0 and 5-0 on aggregate in the tie, thus proving that they are one of the candidates for the trophy.

In Lisbon, the predictions were fulfilled as Benfica easily beat Brugge (5-1). The Portuguese side had already produced a good result in the first leg in Belgium (0-2). With no chance of winning the Premier League, Chelsea had a litmus test to save their season and did not fail against Borussia Dortmund. Potter's men came from behind and saved a match-ball to avoid the end of the season in March.

Bayern Munich put any doubts to bed at home to a combative, if lukewarm, PSG. Choupo-Moting and Gnabry, in the closing stages, put paid to a team that continued its string of failures in the Champions League. Mbappé and Messi had no answer to the chaos at the Allianz Arena.

AC Milan had a tricky trip to North London. But with a narrow win in the first leg, Pioli's side held on for a goalless draw against Tottenham to seal their place in the next round.

Manchester City put on a feast at the Etihad against RB Leipzig. Guardiola's side, with a stellar Haaland scoring five goals, thrashed the Germans 7-0 and are through to the quarter-finals.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, were held to a goalless draw in Porto and are through to the quarter-final after winning the first leg 1-0 in Italy. Conceicao's side hit the post twice in the dying seconds to send the game into extra time.
