The ex-Dortmund coach is expected to land a job abroad

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has turned down the chance to succeed Jupp Heynckes at Bayern Munich, according to Bild, who add that he's likely to move to a European club outside of Germany.

According to reports, Bayern initiated contact with Tuchel, who has been out of work since leaving Dortmund at the end of last season.

The search to replace Heynckes, who took over from the sacked Carlo Ancelotti until the end of the season, has been a big talking point in the German media and Tuchel was among the favourites.

Given the circumstances, Heynckes could yet decide to stay on at the Bavarian club. In a recent press conference he did not confirm whether or not he would leave on June 30 at previously expected.

The veteran coach, who led Bayern to the treble in 2013, came out of retirement to replace Ancelotti earlier this season.

He has since turned Bayern's fortunes around and they are currently 17 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and preparing for a Champions League quarterfinal against Sevilla.
