The German club announced neither player will continue beyond the summer

Bayern Munich have decided not to exercise their option to buy full-back Joao Cancelo for 75 million euros. The Portuguese international will therefore return to Manchester City, the club he joined Bayern from in the January transfer window.

"Thank you for your efforts. Goodbye and all the best for your future," read the Bavarian club's statement.

With the end of his loan at Bayern, Cancelo must return to City, where he already knows that he is not part of Pep Guardiola's plans.

With a view to his future next season, Barcelona are waiting patiently to see if they will have the funds to bring him in at right-back.

That said, it would probably have to be a loan deal, without a compulsory option to buy, in order to be carried out.

Aside from Barça, there are other important clubs in Europe who are also looking at the player to reinforce their squads.

Meanwhile, Bayern also confirmed that Daley Blind will not continue his contract, as he will be heading to LaLiga side Girona.
