Both Juan Miranda and Jean-Clair Todibo, on loan from Barcelona, started for Schalke 04 against Werder Bremen on Saturday but both experienced very different afternoons.
While central defender Todibo had a game to forget, making a mistake to give away the game's only goal, left-back Miranda improved as the game grew.
Todibo was caught trying to turn in possession in the first half and Bremen broke to take the lead. Klaassen robbed the ball and Bittencourt produced a stunning finish to beat Nubel, the Schalke goalkeeper who will move to Bayern Munich when the season ends.
French centre-back Todibo didn't get a chance to make up for his error because he didn't make it out for the second half, with coach David Wagner removing him at the break.
It's been a tough return to action for Todibo. He was injured in the first game after the restart and was making his first start back agaInst Bremen.
However, it was a slightly better afternoon for Miranda, who has had to bide his time for a chance in Germany. He started as a left wing back and then move to left-back, performing well.
Bittencourt's goal was the only goal of the game, though, as Bremen won 0-1 to leave Schalke on an 11-match run without a win -- although they remain safe in mid-table thanks to a good start to the season.
