Xavi to delay the return of Ferran Torres who will miss the Real Madrid encounter
The Valencian striker returned to training with the group this Thursday and was available for the el clásico, but the Barça coach will rest him for a more few days
Ferran Torres will have to wait a little longer to take part in FC Barcelona's American tour. Xavi Hernandez's initial intention was to have the Valencian striker play in the el clásico in Las Vegas, but the coach wants to be cautious. The former Valencia and Manchester City player will likely start this preseason only in the match against Juventus, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, scheduled for next Wednesday.
As reported by SPORT, Ferran returned to training with the group on Thursday. Since their landing in Las Vegas, the player from Foios has worked at the same pace and intensity as his teammates. He was set to be available for the encounter against Real Madrid, but the team instead decided to give him a few extra days of recovery. One of the reasons for the change of plans was the heatwave that attacked the western United States.
Ferran is not 100% fit yet and so the precaution is valid, as this Saturday's clásico (early Sunday morning in Spain) is only a friendly. Xavi does not want to risk a key player for this season, from whom the team had already 'squeezed' out every last effort in the previous year. The priority now is that he arrives in perfect condition for the first official match of the new season. He has time until Saturday, August 13, when Rayo Vallecano will visit the Spotify Camp Nou on the first matchday of La Liga.
Barça's stellar forward line of Auba, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Memphis and Dembélé started with full success in their first match of the tour, against Inter Miami, winning 0-6. Ferran is very excited about his second season at Camp Nou and is confident of his importance despite the enormous internal competition.
