Why didn't Barcelona receive the Liga trophy at Riazor?
Barcelona want the Federation to hand the trophy over in timme for the Clasico
Barcelona won the Liga title on Sunday after beating Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 but they weren't able to toast the victory with the trophy.
Curiously, and unlike in other domestic leagues across Europe, the Liga title is not usually given to the winners until the start of the next season.
It happened last year when Real Madrid won the Liga on the last day of the season, when Gareth Bale expressed his surprise at not receiving the trophy, and in 2016 when Barça won the title at Granada on the final day.
But seeing as Barça have won the league with four games to go, there is hope at the club that they will be able to get their hands on the shiny trophy this season.
The problem is that the Spanish Federation doesn't currently have a president to hand it to them.
There is a chance that they could lift the trophy at the end of the campaign in the final game against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou, when the Federation should have a new president.
However, Barça are actually trying to get the trophy even earlier, so they can celebrate the double at Camp Nou next Sunday against Real Madrid.
